Young Living Versus Health Food Store Oils

Here are some interesting facts about Young Living Oils. My friend, Jenifer shared the following with me:

The FDA has few regulations on essential oils, including labeling.
A bottle may contain 51% essential oil and 49% synthetic fillers and still be labeled as 100% oil.
This is most likely what you will find in a health food store, thus the lower price.
Often these oils are more watery, and good for smell but not strong or pure enough to heal, and certainly not safe to be ingested.
Young Living voluntarily submits itself to the highest standards in the world (France, as the US has few standards) and has complete control over every stage of their process, thereby guaranteeing exceptional quality.
Also, the only thing in that bottle is oil, there are no fillers.
Therefore, these oils are very strong and powerful - one or two drops is all you need. Most full size bottles are 15 mL and provide about 250 drops each, so it should last you a good, long time.
I love Young Living's Seed to Seal Guarantee! You can read about it HERE.

Becoming A Member

If you're like me, you like to know the whole PROCESS before you sign up to do something! Here's how to sign up for membership with Young Living, step by step! Please call me or email if I can help with this part. I'm here for you!! :-)

Step 1: Go to my Young Living member enrollment form

Step 2: Confirm that "Young Living Independent Distributor" is selected. This should really be called "Wholesale Membership" because that's all it is. No pressure to sell or even share. This is the only way to purchase the kit and have access to the wholesale prices on future orders. Also, please confirm my number is in both the Sponsor and Enroller fields (it should already be populated) 1606527.
Step 3: Fill out all the information. It will ask you for your ss# but this is only for legal purposes so that you have the ability to bring in a paycheck (YL is a referral based business). If you never sign anyone up under you (which is NOT required), you won't pull a paycheck and your ss # will never be used.
Step 4: Make sure you write down your pin, user name and password when you choose it because you’ll need that in the future to log into your account.
Step 5: Select the “PREMIUM STARTER KIT” This is the one with the everyday oils kit and the diffuser and the start living kit. It will be $150.
Step 6: Scroll down through the “Essential Rewards Kits” and click “No thank you, I plan on enrolling in Essential Rewards later” (that's the autoship program... no need to sign up for it. You can always enroll later if/when you fall in love with it and are making monthly orders).
Step 7: Click “I Agree” and “Next”
Step 8: Confirm your enrollment information (you should see my name as your enroller and sponsor)
Step 9: Add any additional products you might want. Be sure to check with me before you order about any monthly special that might be going on at the time with Young Living. Often there are free products you can receive by ordering a certain amount and your kit purchase might be getting you really close. There is absolutely no pressure to do that at all… just wanted you to know…wouldn't want you to miss out on FREE product!
Step 10: Check out and you are DONE! WOOHOO!

What To Do While You Wait On Your Kit To Arrive!

Congratulations!!!!  You've ordered your kit!

Sadly you have to wait for it to ARRIVE!

But there are a few things you can do while you wait that will set you up for success once your kit arrives.

1)  Order yourself some coconut oil.  Trust me....you're going to want to have it on hand when your oils arrive.  You can use it to make creams and as a carrier oil with your oils.

I have been using one that I purchased at WalMart. You can also check your favorite healthfood store or order from Amazon .

When you are shopping for coconut oil, you want to look for organic,  cold-pressed, unrefined and extra virgin. The more of those you can find listed on your coconut oil the better. The less processing the better.

2) Order yourself some grape seed oil.  I got mine at the grocery store, but you can also get it from Whole Foods or order from Amazon.  Here's a great one on Amazon.

3) Find an essential oils book you trust.  I HIGHLY recommend the Essential Oils Pocket Reference.
I like that it references Young Living oils specifically compared to other books that don't.  I plan to keep these in stock so please check with me before you order online.  You can also find it on Amazon as well sometimes but it can be pretty pricey.

If you're the "go big or go home type" then I recommend the Essential Oils Desk Reference which is just the Daddy of the one above. :-)  I got the smaller one first, and now I really want the desk reference.  I LOVE it but it is B-I-G.  The top one is definitely much easier to carry around and use on a day to day basis.

4)  Begin to think about what kind of containers you want to store things in if you mix up creams.  Lots of people use small glass food jars or baby food jars.   I plan to purchase some metal tins from Specialty Bottle online.  You can also purchase containers from Abundant Health 4U but on both of these routes shipping can be pricey.  Great idea is to order with a friend and split shipping. You can always check with me if you are local...I might have some extras you can purchase. I also found some glass jars at Hobby Lobby! I got them for 50% off the week they were an on sale item!

By no means do you have to purchase anything fancy! Using what you already have works great!  Just remember that you want to use glass since these Essential Oils truly do have therapeutic properties and several of them will attack the toxins in plastic.  Remember to get amber bottles if buying glass. The light can break down the healing properties of the oils.

Hope that helps get you set up for success when your kit arrives!  Can't wait to see the oils helping your family!

You've Got Your Kit....Now What?

YAY!!!!  Your kit has arrived!!!

Now what?

Open the box!  Pull everything out!

Remember to open the white box up all the way...there are some important papers inside.

In this box is a bottle of Stress Away oil as well as the roller bottle that goes on the top.  It has some great reading material about your oils, some samples that you could share with friends and two samples of Ning Xia Red.  Put those in the fridge!  Best cold!

Open up your diffuser, choose an oil you either need for its healing properties or just one that you love.....fill up your diffuser with water (I use bottled water) and three to four drops of the oil of your choice. Enjoy!

Hopefully you read this post and have supplies on hand and ready!

Now just sit and wait for someone to get sick!  KIDDING!!!!  I did feel like when my kit came that I needed someone to have an ailment so we could try out our oils! HA!

At this point I would make up a batch of whipped coconut oil to have when you need it.  I put about a cup or so in my mixer and whip for 8 to 10 minutes to have on hand when we need to make a cream to treat an issue we are having.  I just store it in a container and keep it in my kitchen cabinet. HERE is a link to some of the creams my friend Jenifer has made for her family. We are in the process of making creams for our family too!

Next, I spent some time learning about each of the oils in my kit....their uses...how to use them.  The little booklet below is  a great resource to tell you if you can use an oil topically, aromatically or dietary. It comes in the box with your oil set.

Definitely ask me about the Lemon Dropper Handbook!  It is an awesome resource that I can get to you.  It tells you all the ways you can use each oil and gives you lots of great info to get your started on the right track.

If you've gotten a copy of the Essential Oils Pocket Reference, then pour yourself a big cup of coffee and dig in! It is full of such great information.  I found myself looking up ailments I didn't even have!

My kit intimidated me a bit when it first came.  I wasn't sure how to get start using it.  Please know that I am here to help ANYTIME!  Shoot me an email, a FB message, call or text and if I don't know the answer, I know lots of ladies who will!

The few things to remember:
  • Use your oils with common sense.  Be sure to use the bottle information or Young Living's info as the final authority on how to use your oils.  Just because it's on Pinterest, doesn't mean it's safe to do! ;-)
  • We always recommend to use your oils "early and often" when you have an issue!  Sometimes that means applying them a few times a day, sometimes it might mean every hour or more often if needed.
So excited you are on this oil journey with me! Love that these oils are helping so many families naturally!
